I'm a former mathematics instructor at the University of Michigan (7 years experience), and have 2 years of private tutoring experience. I have a Masters in Mathematics and made it most of the way through a PhD in Mathematics. I am generally able to help with most undergraduate-level mathematics courses.
My teaching and tutoring style is generally to try to get at the ideas underlying the procedures. In my experience, once a student understands why something is done, it's easier to remember how it is done. But I also acknowledge that different students have different needs and different goals, and I'm happy to listen and adapt my style to the individual student as needed.
In my spare time, I enjoy tabletop roleplaying game design, sci-fi/fantasy fiction, cooking and dancing. I have some experience in issues around queerness and neurodiversity (I am autistic and transgender myself) and try to be supportive when it comes to diversity and equity issues.
